Peko always plays in the preseason, so when the Lions told him he wasn't dressing for their opener, he panicked. I'm thinking, 'Why am I not playing? What in the hell is going on?'
Nice article. This D line is such a pleasant story. Justin, are you happy with Jack Campbell’s progress in his second year. He looks and breathes football.
The best story of the first month. Talk about overcoming adversity. This guy os GRIT on steroids!(probably a bad choice of wording since we are talking about NFL😂)
Love the deep dives into the unsung players. Have you done one on Sudfeld? The life of a back up quarterback type thing. Especially if it goes the way we think it might on cut day where they cut him, then he comes back after on the practice squad and starts the season out as back up QB. That must be weird to get told or to know that you are going to get cut, that the team still wants you back, but that your time is numbered as even the backup QB.
Detroit used to be where players came to get one last paycheck before ending their NFL career. Now Detroit is a destination city for players who still believe they have what it takes. And they know that they will be given an fair shot by the coaching staff.
IORC, this is the sort of work that endeared me to Killer. It's awesome you continue to carry his mantle even as you've developed your own style and personality. Well done.
Awesome story Justin. We get mad at these guys when they don’t show up or win on Sundays but these stories remind us that these guys are human too. Never heard of Peko until this year and he just continues to show up in your stories. Looking forward to him bringing the hammer to the opposing offensive line.
Excellent story of perseverance, taking nothing for granted and bravery. The epitome of what the Lions look for. Can't wait to hear his name on Sundays.
On a side note, Justin, well done. Digging deeper into what ultimately makes a team, well a team. There's so much more that goes into it than X's and O's. I'm fact, I'd say what drives a player is more important. You're just hitting your stride, sir and I'm glad I'm along for the ride.
Any news on Mekhi Wingo? Lions traded up to get him, yes?

I don't recall hearing much about this guy, but he deserves to be successful here in Detroit.
Great story. What an amazing journey!
Teams come in many different forms. Peko and his wife have a great one. Good for them!

Or is ie endeared Killer to me? Doh!
I love these profiles!
I needed a defensive version of Skip!
