The Detroit Lions will hold off on officially announcing any cuts until Tuesday, but an initial wave has leaked. We share some perspective on those early moves.
I heard he failed the initial physical twice...which Mike Golic showed how easy that was to do even after being retired for years. He also looked like he didn't want to be on the field anymore. I saw him trot routes or not even attempt to block on other plays...that is a no go for this team.
They’ll be plenty of receivers available if Holmes sees fit. You mentioned Patrick. Sterling Shepherd and Russell Gage are also now available. I’m curious to see how it plays out
I don't see keeping Jones. He did little to take hold of that open spot. But you gotta trust that management knows what they are doing until it doesn't work any longer. A few mistakes here and there would not be unsettling. We are still miles apart from the average Lions season of calamities of the past.
I knew it was a real competition, which is why I took the time to profile Hatten. That turned into a pretty good story. Still thought the incumbent held a slight edge, but I'm hardly able to watch the nuance of snaps from 100 yards away during practice. Had a good, professional bond with Daly. Hoping he finds a new home quickly.
Regarding DPJ - you cannot keep a poor work ethic player and keep the respect of the team. Brad and Dan had no choice but to cut him.
Expand on the poor work ethic. Is there something more than your opinion to add credence to this? Might not sound it , but i ask respectfully.
Tom summed up what I had been hearing quite well. DPJ obviously didn't "earn it". I'm pulling for him!

With Daly and Zylstra, I think the FO knew what they had and saw them as maxed out, whereas the others have more room to grow.
This also sends a message to the entire roster that no job is safe and if you are a veteran, you’d better beat your competition clearly.
If other teams like Rashad we could have a Wildgoose chase on our hands. I'll show myself out.
Justin, what is your opinion on how many of these guys would have made the 2021 roster out of curiosity?
Tough to say, maybe three or four.
The only one that surprises me is Daly.
That did not surprise me

That was an excellent article on Hatten. Another bonus is his LB versatility.
You can't analyze snaps from 100 yards away. I thought you were the long snapper beat writer!
