Still suspended for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is back in the news for an incident stemming from a traffic stop in early October.
What is it about these smallish speedy wide receivers? Is it just me or do 5 of 10 seem to get into trouble with the league or the law (or both)? If not 5 of 10 it's certainly higher than any other position group.
If this were a story about a Chicago Bears player or an Ohio player, I'd be like, figures. But a Lions player? OMG, he didn't break any laws (which he totally did).
His baby brother figured out how to get properly licensed. Maybe he should teach his famous brother how to adult.
It’s probably a slippery slope to deal in hypotheticals with a breaking story as facts are emerging, but I’m curious what the possible outcomes are in terms of the internal investigation / request for a warrant, and how this might inform any potential disciplinary actions from the NFL.
This is ridiculous that this was even a story. The cops did what they were supposed to, no law was broken, the Lions knew about it, it happened over 20 days ago. Pure click bait by a desperate local news channel. Honestly wish I didn't see it here.
Agree with everything said here except your last sentence. Justin has the obligation to report on it if for no other reason then every other outlet is reporting it. Silence would be weird here.
But totally agree that this is clickbait and a nothing burger. He has the right to a gun. The gun wasn’t on his person, it was in the car. He was with his brother. His brother has a CPL. They were cooperative with police to the point of proactively stating there were guns in the car. Move on.
Also to those screaming he’s immature or he should just have a damn CPL himself, I hear you. There is a version of me 20 years ago that would have been in total agreement. But I now have members of my household who are just genetically low in conscientiousness. They aren’t bad people, but getting the details right is hard for them. It’s not maturity, it’s just not their strength.
I imagine it’s the same for Jamo. I don’t know that for sure but all the things that have gone wrong for him in his career so far point to that. The dude works hard, he’s not a diva, he wants to win, he wants to be the best, and he has Dan Campbell’s trust. All that is good enough for me.
I think it's a fair point. Don't get me wrong, I think JR is the best in the business and you're probably right, he did need to mention it, but I just think it's unfair that it made the headlines.
Oh I totally agree that it’s profoundly unfair. The media has leveraged the early narrative that fans had about Jamo and taken every little thing just to get clickbait. (Not including Justin in this statement.)

Present writer exempted, this whole story is pulling out the old dungeon of doom reporting tendencies in Detroit sports. Gross.
It just feels like stuff like this is gonna keep happening
He was honest, co-operative, compliant, and respectful. That is all I need to know. A good example.
He was still breaking the law.

"You know where I live? Detroit."
He's looking more and more like a lost cause.
He needs to go take a class and get his papers. It’s not hard. Just an 8 hour class, time on the range, and filing or proper paperwork.

He did break the law. You can't carry a pistol in a vehicle without a concealed pistol license in the State of Michigan.

Given the guns situation in America, this feels like much ado about nothing.
I know I won’t be popular, but I trust him too.
You’re fine with me, I trust him too
