No matter what efforts go into protecting your starters during training camp and the preseason, injuries happen. That misfortune struck the Lions during Wednesday's practice.
He'll be taking it easy on the practice field until the 4th or 5th, and he'll be absolutely fine for Week 1.
Let's not start clutching pearls just yet, this early in the season, about Sewell and the rest of the guys that have sat for awhile. Most NFL teams are extremely cautious with small injuries to key players in the preseason, as they should be if they want those guys to gut it out for the next 3+ months.
I'm no expert, but if they let him walk on it under his own power (vs bringing out the cart) back into the training room then I'm feeling good about week 1. We'll see, fingers crossed.
This is scary. Haven’t seen anything about Gibbs. Hopefully they can start without being banged up.
Had an update on him two days ago. Expected to return to practice next week.
No worries. If Penei loses a leg 🦵 - he has another.... Play ya on grass with one leg, one ass cheek using toes from the lost and found...
Have him sleep it off on his newly signed bed of cash and he’ll be good as new by week 1😂

No use panicking. Maybe this is the worst injury the starters suffer for quite a while.

Goodness don't make me start drinking again ...
Lions were unusually healthy last year. This year has been different. Hopefully all minor and out of the way in the preseason.
Noooooooo!
Want to hit the like button for the timely update, but it feels like the wrong thing to do.
I understand.
It wouldn’t be an NFL off-season without losing a major contributor before we even get to week one 🙄
Love this sport but it sucks how often injuries happen
🤞🏻
Man, what a shame. The injury bug is gonna be our toughest opponent all season.
Well he’s got 2.5 weeks to heal. Hopefully it’s just a minor ankle issue. He’s the dawg to end all dawgs so I’d imagine he'll grit it out if need be.
If anyone will shake it off, if no severe tissue or structural problems, this guy is a warrior and it will be hard to keep him out for Rams.
Ugh. Irreplaceable man.
