Regardless of the outcome of the Detroit Lions’ Monday night showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, next week’s home game against the Minnesota Vikings will carry the loftiest of stakes.
The last game will be Sunday night. Yuck. I don't like the late games or MNF. Now you have to hope the Lions aren't looking ahead to the Vikes. Campbell usually has them focused on the game at hand and I expect that to hold true tonight.
The lions haven’t even played the 49ers and Sunday night football is already billing next week’s matchup as “historic.” It will 100% be flexed and watch out for all kinds of storylines this week. The NFL will be milking it big time. And I’m into it!!!
I don't know if I believe in sports curses. I don't know if I believe the Lions are cursed. But if the Lions were cursed, wouldn't it make perfect sense that as soon as they get relevant and manage to string two decent seasons together they have to contend with one of the most competitive divisions in the history of the NFL?
Last year, 12 wins won the division. This year, it's possible that 14 wins wouldn't get it done.
Maybe it is just my lack of perspective, but I feel like people who talk like that about the (Browns, Bengals, Jets) just don't really understand how historically irrelevant the Lions have been. They were in the running for the worst franchise in all of American sports.
because I like keeping up with football as a whole(and I'm not paying). I especially think that the lions are in a golden age of sorts and its fun to follow despite them being a division rival. I respect every team except dallas and green bay
Someone, help me have some hope. I just don’t see how we can hang with them given all the injuries. The Bears are one thing, but Minnesota just seems so well-rounded and balanced and they’re basically fully healthy. I’m having a hard time seeing a reason to believe.
Our offense is capable of scoring 40+, so I think that's our hope. I think it'll be like Buffalo again, but hopefully we can squeak by by outscoring them.
I don't think it's going to be anything like the Buffalo game. Buffalo played their best high energy game and we played one of our worst. Count on the Lions bringing their best game.
Totally disagree, as Dan Campbell has said, this is why they play they game! Ford Field rocking in the biggest game of the season. It's going to be epic.

This is no time to be clutching pearls -- we got this.
Predictions - Lions win in a blowout, the moment will be too big for the Vikings. Amik and Arnold both notch INTs, Lions romp.

Is there any chance the game gets flexed or is it locked in at 1?
Last paragraph of the story, Brew.
100% it will be flexed. Kickoff has been TBD all season.

Somewhere, a Vikings fan wrote the exact thing from their perspective.
I've heard Vikings fans say similar things too.

vikes fan here again, this will be on my mind the whole week. cannot wait and it will be a battle for the ages. much respect🙏
Please explain how you’re a Vikes fan on a Lions paid site? Just curious…

The 49ers game will matter if the Vikings get the ball v. the Lions with 2 minutes to go in ot.
Last line is promising, but I can’t believe you respect the Bears.
I kind of respect them out of pity. I liken them to a car crash, just go "awww," and hope everyone's alright.
I’m a long suffering Lions fan who has lived in Minnesota my whole life. The Vikes being great this year is a tough pill to swallow.
You gotta give all credit to the Packers...0-5 against all the NFC teams that matter.😉
Staying healthy is the only thing that matters. I would rest:
Decker
Goff
Gibbs
Z Smith
Branch
St Brown
Sewell
Ragnow
Not gonna happen. This team is what it is primarily because they always play to win. Sitting players is not in their DNA.

What a nightmare.

I hope you're right. I just don't see us slowing down that offense. But I'm going to stay positive and hope for the best.
First off I hope you enjoy the game tomorrow and forget about next week. :-)
It is kind of nice to be going to the SF game tonight and not really have to stress about whether we win or not, lol.
