Shaw is a very very highly regarded coach. I thought he’d never leave “The Farm”. I’ve enjoyed listening to him and Mike Mayock talk draft on NFLN for years. I don’t think he will be here long but he brings an incredible football mind to the collaboration
What will be fascinating to see is how long it will take the Lions players to coach the coaches in the Lion ways! Just think of the wealth of knowledge these guys will bring to the players already high talent stack.
Fun tidbit from Shaw's Wikipedia page: "Shaw was born in San Diego, California and moved with his family around the country following his father Willie's career as an NFL coach. Shaw played high school football at Rochester Adams High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan while his father coached for the Detroit Lions."
So much for reloading with brilliant young minds. Not saying younger is better, but we added a couple decades worth of years to the staff. In Campbell we trust.

I don’t care about the age of the coaches, I just hope that they bring in innovation and the ability to adjust in game.
Justin, do you know if either Morton or Shaw can do the requisite 50 up-downs? If not, how will either gain credibility among the players?
I also wonder what Cal alum Goff thinks about taking advice from a former Stanford player and coach.
That was a defensive thing only, so they're off the hook.
I almost wonder if the Lions have actually upgraded.

A few less trick plays may not be a bad thing.
