There are six head coach openings across the NFL and Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell is braced for two to be filled by his coordinators, Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.
Yeah -- I was thinking of in successive seasons, ie coordinating for Team A in Division 1 this season and head coaching Team B in Division 1 the next one.
I think our offense will be fine, if not elite, and with all the IR players returning our defense could be very, very good. Frankly, I don't think the Lions will be as dominant in years to come as they were this season, which is partially why losing with that 1 seed was so painful, but I think we'll be competitive for the next few years. We have too much talent not to be. There are worse things than being a perennial playoff team.
There is nothing to say that any new coordinator can't be even more successful then his predecessor. We still have a formidable nucleus of players and staff. Sure, the Lions have missed another golden opportunity to go all the way, but who knows if some new lifeblood doesn't unlock even greater potential?
I don't wanna go back to seeing the Lions as they were before Campbell. If that happens, I am done as 60-70 years of this will be enough.
I asked this on the chat but do you think letting AG and BJ do interviews distracted them from preparations for the game? That’s something I saw national media suggesting
How often does an OC and/or DC take a HC job for a team in the same division?
I'm a little salty on that, myself. I wish Johnson all the success, but I wish he would do it in another division.
Difficult to answer, because it requires a bunch of factors to happen at once. But it definitely happens. Happened last year with Canales.

Well we certainly ain't that, amirite?
EPSPN just reported Ben Johnson to Bears :(
It's in the chat.

I'm there already.
What difference does it make. They haven't done anything significant in 67 years, and you're expecting change?

Naw, no way! Lol!
And I answered in the chat. Emphatically, no.
