Allen Park — Here are some observations from Monday’s Detroit Lions training camp, the first where the team was in full pads.
● First of all, what a crowd. Not only were the stands packed at the newly minted Meijer Performance Center, but you guys were loud. Maybe as loud as I’ve ever heard it at a camp practice, start to finish.
There were also quite a few chants, including those for quarterback Jared Goff, owner Sheila Hamp and former owner Martha Ford, who was attendance for the first time this camp.
My favorite was the guy holding a poster board with bunch of Ramen noodle packs glued to it, seeking a trade for Jameson Williams’ cleats. Doesn’t seem like a great return for the receiver, who said he saw the fan after practice, but couldn’t get on board with a swap.
“I seen the sign,” Williams said. “I didn't go over there. I can't give him my cleats. They're exclusive! You ain't never going to see anyone with these, man."
The fan might have had more luck with a McDonald’s double cheeseburger topped with an Oreo McFlurry.
