When a team claims a PS guy do they have to put on 53 man roster?

Yes. Practice squad is at will employment, essentially. Players pick where they want to play. If they are claimed off waivers, it's from 53-man to 53-man roster. Or, in this case, 90-man to 53-man roster. Lions could cut Nowaske tomorrow and try to sign him to their practice squad, if he goes unclaimed and he's agreeable. Sometimes, that happens, too.

So Patrick has to be on the 53?

DonтАЩt think so. Because of his years accrued Patrick wasnтАЩt waived, he was released. I think thatтАЩs how it works

Correct, players with less than 4 years experience go to waivers, players with 4 or more years of experience get released/cut. Waiver players can be claimed by another team, released players can go talk to whoever they want immediately.
