Fans on social media get worked up into a frenzy with the team's weekly uniform announcement. Here's an explanation on the process for those selections, which starts in June.
Absolutely barbaric that a team can only wear "alternatives" 3x a yr. I get it from a branding perspective you don't want teams having unlimited looks and there goes branding identification. But have a set number of jersey's a team can choose from and let them decide how many times they wear them. Cap it at 4 different jersey's. Traditional home Traditional away. Alternate home and old school or Alternate away or something. Cap it at 4 looks and branding will be just fine.
I'm pissed at myself for only just now thinking of this question after this thing dropped like 12 hours ago, BUT can you explain those weird little tails that skill position players wear in their uniforms? Also, why do some players wear towels, and some don't wear anything at all?
Love this article! I am one of those guys checking the Lions Twitter (or X) account to see what they will wear. I really hope they try the blue pants with the black jerseys against Buffalo.
I don't really like the monochromatic looks. The Lions have some of the best uniforms in sports, when they wear they're actual regular uniform.
They should wear the white jersey/blue pants and blue jersey/ silver pants. I don't care about superstition and it's mostly the Thanksgiving throwbacks anyway.
Wow, they really do go through quite a process. Reminds me of my own game day ritual wherein I try to match some of my least stained underwear with a T-shirt that’s small enough to make me look fat while still being large enough to stretch into a temporary towel should I need to wipe away our dog’s eye goop.
My apologies Luke, I appreciate your perspective. It makes me think I made the right decision in not posting photos that would have supported my written commentary.
Justin, since we are on the topic of uniforms. I’m sure many of us want to know…
Are you able to find out when and if they will ever make the new jerseys available to the fans with stitched lettering? I see everywhere that fans want this instead of the iron on letters. No one seems to have an answer. Other than Fanatics has the contract….
I have looked alot at jerseys, and honestly the only stitched ones I find are the overseas knockoffs. They are totally hit or miss overall. One of the things I don't like about even the $175 jerseys from the NFL store is the names are so much smaller and to me just looks cheap. There is a guy in Virginia. His business is called 44 Authentics. You can Google it. If you want the real deal and are willing to spend the money. His jerseys are actual Lions game issued with exact lettering and numbers. They are what is worn on the field. I have several and they are all I wear. He doesn't yet have the 2024, but he told me he is working on it. So anyway, check it out if you are interested.
Thanks for shedding some light on this. It's something that I've been curious about for a while. Some teams announce their uniform combos days in advance. Why do the Lions wait and announce theirs the night (in some cases, late late night) before?
What happened to the helmet they debuted last year? Will they wear it this year?

I was skeptical about the black uniforms even after the reveal, but after seeing them on TV and in action they were glorious.
Is the blue/silver combo just because that was the most prevalent combo before they got good?

Tom, please... there are children present.

i snorted and then threw up a little in my mouth
This was great insight Justin, thanks.
I like the blue jersey gray pants look, so kind of a bummer for me!
Love the Blueberries.

Love the article, but it's definitely bye week!😁
I've always been fond of the white jersey/blue pants combo.
I'm smarter than I was 10 minutes ago, and look forward to sharing these details at my next watch party.
I was hoping to see the Black against the Packers the Thursday after Thanksgiving.
Black vs the Packer yellow would have looked awesome.

Why sponsor one thing when you can sponsor 20+?
I would guess extra anticipation and hype.
Maybe
