I really like this move. At this cost, I think it's a great risk for the Lions to take. I still hope that a primo DT or Edge falls to the Lions in the draft...
If a one they like falls to around 15, what would it take to move up that far? I am thinking at least their 2nd round pick. Their 3rd rounder is way too far back for much of a move up.
Amazing, last year the Eagles drafted way in front of the Lions. Not used to seeing things like that.
Trade chart says using the 2nd round pick should get you in the 15 range.
If there is a DL player they love, someone they see as a stud, I would be fine with using the 2nd round pick. Get him for 5 years so he he[ps navigate the Salary Cap during this window, no more figuring out of you can fit some 30 mil a year guy, at least not yet.
This is an extremely positive move. Looking forward to seeing him be able to play inside the whole season.
Do hope that this doesn’t preview Reader being let go, as there are seven DTs on the roster and have to think at least one is added in the draft. Way too many for a 53 man. At this point, the cap space isn’t needed, even if DJ doesn’t completely warrant his existing cap number. For locker room vibes and rolling dice on stability in the middle, I hope Reader sticks as well.
8-12 months post-surgery. Given McNeill's focus, I'm hoping he'll be back at full strength by October. That's 10 months after his operation. But everyone is different so who knows?
Things are falling nicely into place to have some depth on the d-line. I think Reader is already locked in as well. I knew they had a decision to make on the bonus. I know this has been published already, but what's the return timeline for McNeil? Thanks for all of the thorough updates, Justin. I love this time of year and the upcoming draft. A time to dream about what could be...

The more I think about it the more I like it
Wow, CB and DT are now in much better shape for this time of year than expected - YAY!!!

This is great news. With a deep dline draft I could see them adding some young and cheap players to develop for the future.

Third day of the league year, so Friday.
Yep, Friday will clarify Reader's future here. I'm guessing he'll be cut without concessions, but we'll see.
