I think the new kickoff rules should be compared to the old standard of having the ball at the 25 yard line for end zone kicks. Sure, kicking it into the end zone gives the opponent an extra 5 yards to start but will any returned balls be better than the previous automatic spot at the 25? Thus far, I am not too happy with kickoffs since few are being returned...or it seems that way to me.

I am not worried about Tampa even though they crunched a bottom 5 team in the Redskins. They have proven nothing yet. Meanwhile, despite not playing quite up to par, the Lions blasted past a reasonably good Rams team when they needed to whereas the old Lions would have found ways to lose that game.

Goff really did not play well in the opener. And it’s good to see Johnson acknowledge essentially that, without mentioning him by name.

Given 3 years worth of watching this team just on the screen and at a few games, there's no way they don't have at least 1 trick up their sleeve regarding Kickoff returns. I can't see a team who fake punts as well as them wouldn't find a way to cook something up. I wouldn't be surprised if they are saving it for the playoffs or a divisional game. If they run it during the season, then I'd bet they have a counter play that was set up by previous tape.

“He’s a little bit of a blankie for us because we know if something were to happen, he can play x, f, z,” Johnson said. “Je can play every spot at the receiver spot." - probably intended to be "he" instead of "Je" unless I'm missing a nickname or something
