The Detroit Lions continued to re-sign their own free agents a week into the new league year, reaching a one-year agreement with defensive end Al-Quadian Muhammad.
Coild they really do something about Defensive Holding?
I can live with the nothing the passer calls, at least they mean well. But is there anything worse than on 3rd and 15 the defense makes a great play and the defense is off the field, until we see that yellow flag way on the other side of the play.
I like the idea of changing the defensive holding/illegal contact rule. I don’t like changing the playoff seeding because it diminishes the value of winning the division, although it might be appropriate in a situation where the division winner finishes with a record under .500.
A commenter on another site suggested a hybrid system that leaves the wild-card round as is, but reseeds for the divisional round based on regular-season records. So division winners would still be guaranteed a home playoff game, but it wouldn't be so difficult for a strong wild-card team to get one. I like this idea.
That's good. The current system may occasionally be unfair, as it was for the vikings last year, but I like the added pressure of wanting to win the division games for more home field advantage.

Got to be something they can do.
Our overall team depth is incredible. Most of our starters the last 8 games are our lower 2nd and 3rd string depth players.
Change the overtime rules. The outcome of a game should not be decided by a coin flip.

Sounds like an interesting compromise.
