The Detroit Lions rallied from a 13-point, first-half deficit to beat the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the second preseason game for both teams.
We (the Lions) have not been very good about taking that short pass in the middle of the field to the RB out of the backfield over the years. The one that is always there when the Backers are dropping to cover the first down line. Teams like GB have killed us with that over the years and we never have reciprocated. St. Brown does something similar but it's not the same. Vaki looks like he is made for that, in my opinion.
I really do kind of wonder- given he has a bit more time to develop- if he doesn't get some action in the slot at some point. Saw someone joking about him being WR3 and I was like, hmmmm.....no......but maybe????....no......maybeeeee????
Yeah, I was trying to figure out the all fence of side of the 53. And frankly those two could be either receiver or running back. Two dual purpose players could actually make four positions into two. Would allow for two more players elsewhere, even on defense. I think that’s where they’re trying to get somebody to be a linebacker/defensive edge in the same vein.
It's hard to see who is in and how they're doing- seemed overall like a very good performance by the backup O-line. Anyone standout in particular or would that take a deeper dive post-game? (I know it's hard to keep track of every position)
If it wasn’t for his size, just ask Kennedy, I would think Isaiah Williams would have a roster spot locked up. Will the Lions keep a taller, less productive option?
Yeah, Campbell's comments indicated as much. Emphasized only doing work in the slot and will need to do more with Saint and Raymond already on the roster.
Hendon is getting so much more comfortable. Easy to forget he has hardly played in nearly two years. Encouraging. And Brad Holmes is a brilliant mind. In Brad we trust.
Happy to beat the Chiefs without any of our main staples playing a snap when they started their first string
I’m also wondering if really, Gibbs and Vaki are not just running backs now, but really all purpose offensive players.

it is no joke to consider him as the # 3 target behind the Saint and a sophomore TE.
Jamo will be part of that triumvirate.

Oh, just noticed a typing error. And it can’t be edited. It’s offence, not all fence.

When it comes to o-line, individual performances are best reviewed through film. Good on you for already being on to that.

I’m thinking he may not stick on our practice squad very long. Would hate to see him go but I get it. The price is right too.

I did not see the first quarter, was the Oline protections pretty good against first stringers of Kansas City?
Yes.
Encouraging!
I agree about Vaki. He just looks legit. Hard to see how the keep him from 4 or 5 touches a game by week 5.
Seems like not much action from the TEs. Any insight on this roster battle?
Based on practice rotations, it's wide open.
